Senior Surveyor – Team Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Surveyor – Team Lead to join our Tauranga team. This is a key role where you’ll provide technical expertise, lead and develop a talented survey team, and work closely with clients to deliver high‑quality surveying services across a diverse range of projects. You’ll play a pivotal role in growing the local surveying capability, supporting projects across the region and nationally, and helping position the business as a consultant of choice in the Bay of Plenty.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of survey professionals, fostering a strong and collaborative team culture
• Allocate work, support performance and contribute to recruitment, training and retention initiatives
• Provide senior technical leadership across a wide range of surveying projects
• Undertake and oversee field and office surveying work, including land transfer, engineering set‑out, topographical, boundary and as‑built surveys
• Project manage surveying and civil projects, ensuring quality, budget and programme requirements are met
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients
• Identify and support new work opportunities in Tauranga and surrounding areas
• Ensure all work is delivered in line with relevant standards, legislation, codes of practice and safety requirements

About You

• A relevant surveying qualification (Bachelor’s degree or Diploma)
• Significant professional experience (typically 10+ years) in surveying or a related discipline
• A confident technical leader with a strong surveying background and a passion for developing others.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring survey teams
• Strong technical capability across field and office surveying practices
• Experience using surveying and design software such as 12d, Trimble Business Centre and/or Civil 3D
• Solid project management skills and commercial awareness
• Excellent communication skills and a client‑focused mindset
