Who We Are Looking For
The Security Operations Specialist is responsible for general and emergency assistance to a worldwide client base, utilizing operations protocols and other client-focused procedures. In this role, you will hone your skills to a better understanding of global security while guiding clients through a multifaceted and challenging landscape. You will serve as a team member in a Crisis24 Global Operations Centre (GOC), which acts as the heart for delivering all our operational tasks in support of our global clients. You should have an aptitude for providing security advice and assistance to clients in difficult situations. Handling a range of situations from routine monitoring to supporting complex emergency and evacuation tasks. The candidate must be able to effectively balance the efficient delivery of daily tasks alongside being able to deal with and help to resolve unexpected complex events, including giving immediate support and advice to people in live security incidents. Central to the role is the ability to work under pressure clearly and calmly, to work effectively in a global team to deliver solutions in real time, and in combination with being able to run routine daily tasks with focus and accuracy. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in security and risk management, looking to further hone their skills and deepen their expertise in an operational setting.
What You Will Work On
Crisis24 seeks a Security Operations Specialist, Global Operations, to work in support of live operations, proactive threat monitoring, and emergency response tasks carried out within our ‘Follow the Sun’ Global Operations Centres in Annapolis, USA, Bournemouth, UK, and Singapore
This includes the coordination and oversight of various global operations involving emergency safety support, evacuation, security, and protection tasks in high-risk and challenging locations, the proactive threat monitoring of client personnel and assets globally, and the compilation of threat information and mitigation advice
The position holder works a ‘follow the sun’ 9-hour day shift pattern to ensure 24/7/365 operations
You must be responsible, diligent, composed under pressure, and demonstrate high-quality written and verbal skills
Duties & Responsibilities
Support the research and assessment of a threat environment for proposed task/travel, using a range of privileged and open-source platforms/research networks:
Prepare, compile, and distribute travel security advice and risk assessments prior to or during client travel to higher-risk locations
Support the research and delivery of pre-travel briefings and presentations to a range of travellers (including deploying expats, academia, NGOs, corporate travellers, C-suite, etc.):
Brief on current threats, associated risks, and suggest safety measures
Monitor requests and supply the content to global travel security requests from deployed personnel, in-country travellers, clients, and on-the-ground security teams:
Provide travel security & emergency advice, mitigation measures, and recommendations to travellers, clients, and organisation points of contact
Utilising open-source intelligence, proactively monitor the security situation in locations where assets are located and conduct regular checks to confirm the well-being of personnel:
Support the coordination of ad hoc travel security, secure transport, and protection tasks
Support security response contingency planning:
Keeping Operations Management apprised of escalating situations
Assist with research and review of deteriorating locations, identifying potential exit routes, transport hubs, relocation sites, border crossings, and the compilation of associated mapping and information to aid preparation
Utilise tracking platforms to monitor events and action at-risk notifications:
Initiate mass communications and confirm welfare status
React to major security incidents by providing immediate support and advice, ensuring the safety of potentially affected assets, and producing situation reports for client awareness
Maritime security & piracy incident monitoring and alerting:
Utilise maritime intelligence sources to identify, track, and report on piracy incidents, alerting client vessels and stakeholders as necessary
Conduct regular ship security drills and testing of vessel security systems for maritime clients
Liaise with clients, Captains, and First Officers to plan live SSAS testing
Respond to Special Risk (Kidnap, Ransom & Extortion) calls, gathering the key information and quickly escalating internally to the specialist department
Support the delivery of tracking solutions:
Monitor & react to system notifications and customer messages
Out of hours, provide first response to activations and issues
Support the coordination and communication of security, evacuation, and emergency tasks:
Provide operational and tactical intelligence support (including location monitoring, information collation, and threat mapping) to live operations, including emergency evacuations, crisis, and incident response tasks
Support the compilation of post operational reports for internal (lessons identified & learnt) and external (marketing & case study) purposes:
Documenting and logging in historical archives
Follow and adhere to Crisis24 security, response, and client standard operating procedures:
Adhere to Company policies, with a focus on Information Security and Data Protection
Retain and understand a familiarisation of Crisis24 services:
Specific understanding and knowledge of security department services, procedures, systems, and client & partner relationships
Provide day-to-day support and guidance to new front-line staff and Security Specialists, ensuring consistency, competence, and efficiency in security-related response handling and operational tasks
Strive to deliver the highest standards of service to customers:
Highlight and contribute recommendations for improved performance, process, and service delivery
Support the training, coaching, and mentoring of new starters:
Participate in Global Operations Centre drills and exercises
Ad hoc travel security, safety, and operationally related tasks, duties, and support as required by the Security Operations Manager
Who You Will Work With
The successful candidate will work as part of a team of Security Operations Specialists within our Global Operations Centre, and the role requires close collaboration between team members to deliver on tasks
The Security Specialists work closely with the Security Operations Management team, who will provide support and instruction
During complex tasks, the Security Specialists work alongside Operations Management to plan, run, and deliver operational support to clients
As part of a global team, the role also regularly works closely with Crisis24 colleagues in various locations to help deliver services to clients, both internal and external
Working hours: 9-hour shifts, typically every 5/6 days with 2/3 days off
What You Will Bring
Direct experience in emergency/crisis response, military, or response centres that require communication skills during high operational tempo is desired
Additional language skills (verbal and written) are an advantage
