Senior Windows System Engineer

Contract: 12 months (subject to extension).

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Salary: Not a constraint for the right candidate!

Experience: 8-10 years.

Hybrid: 2 days Work from Home 3 days Work from Office

Your Profile & DNA:

We are seeking a Senior Windows System Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise Windows infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, VMware virtualization, and core Microsoft infrastructure services. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to system administration, and collaboration with cross-functional IT teams to ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage Windows Server infrastructure (2012/2016/2019/2022)
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policies (GPOs), DNS, and DHCP
• Manage and troubleshoot Remote Desktop Services (RDS) / Terminal Services
• Support VMware virtualized environments
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity
• Troubleshoot complex Windows, networking, and infrastructure issues
• Implement security hardening, patch management, backup, and recovery best practices
• Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams
• Follow ITIL processes for Incident, Change, and Problem Management

Qualification & Experience

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.
• 6–10 years of hands-on experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Strong experience supporting production infrastructure in medium to large enterprise environments.
• Experience working within ITIL-based operational processes.
