POSITION TITLE: 6th-Grade Science & STEM Lab Teacher
REPORTS TO: Upper Elementary Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
The 6th Grade Science & STEM Lab Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, inquiry-based science instruction while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation through hands-on STEM experiences. The teacher promotes scientific literacy, experimentation, and collaborative learning in a structured, safe laboratory environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, Engineering, or related field.
- Teaching certification (preferred).
- Experience teaching middle school science (preferred).
- Strong understanding of scientific inquiry and STEM integration.
- Ability to design and facilitate laboratory experiments safely.
- Proficiency in instructional technology and STEM tools.
- Full professional fluency in English, including near-native pronunciation. All instruction is delivered entirely in English.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned science instruction for 6th-grade students.
- Design and implement hands-on laboratory experiments and STEM-based projects.
- Foster inquiry, experimentation, and data-driven analysis.
- Promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ensure laboratory safety procedures and protocols are followed at all times.
- Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and lab activities.
- Integrate technology and digital tools into STEM instruction.
- Collaborate with faculty to align interdisciplinary learning experiences.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development sessions.
- Supervise students during assigned duties and lab sessions.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and materials in safe working condition.
- Support school-wide STEM initiatives, competitions, and events.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with safeguarding policies.
