The role focuses on shifting from legacy systems and transitioning from .NET toward a unified Java/Spring stack. Key responsibilities include: collaborating on modernization by designing patterns for legacy displacement to move domains from the monolith with zero downtime; building new services and helping transition others from .NET to Spring; partnering with product managers to shape requirements and roadmaps that balance technical debt with new value; communicating effectively across distributed teams with strong written documentation and async communication; mastering observability using Grafana and modern tracing to monitor system health; and leveraging AI tools like Claude Code to accelerate development workflows. You should be a backend expert with deep experience in backend systems and comfort switching between programming languages, with practical experience in .NET and Java preferred. You must be a systems thinker comfortable with event-driven systems and have proven track records of breaking down monoliths and managing system migrations. You should be quality-obsessed with beliefs in robust test suites (Unit, Integration, E2E), pragmatic and curious with strong product mindset, and an observability advocate who builds systems that reveal performance issues before crashes occur.
