Working Student: LCA & Sustainability in BIM

neoBIM is a well-funded, fast-growing startup revolutionizing the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) industry. We build AI-powered Building Information Modeling (BIM) software that makes design smarter, faster, and more sustainable. Our platform covers the full building lifecycle — from early-stage design to handover and digital twin operation.

Tasks

• Support and run Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for buildings, primarily for the German building and construction industry
• Turn messy real-world data (materials, energy, emissions) into clear sustainability insights
• Build scrappy, smart solutions to automate LCA workflows using AI and modern tools
• Use LLMs and AI agents to speed up analysis, reporting, and internal processes
• Ship quick prototypes using a vibe coding mindset — iterate fast, break things, and improve
• Spot opportunities, challenge assumptions, and bring your own ideas to the table
• Work closely with a small, driven team and have a real impact from day one
• Communicate results clearly — whether it’s a quick dashboard or a sharp presentation

Requirements

• A master’s degree (or currently pursuing one) related to sustainable development of the built environment
• Solid understanding of architectural design and LCA, and their impact on each other
• Hands-on experience with AI / LLMs (prompting, APIs, and automations)
• You can code (ideally Python) and like using it to solve real problems; without programming acumen, we cannot build anything
• Comfortable with vibe coding — fast prototyping, AI-assisted development, figuring things out as you go
• You’re independent: you don’t wait for instructions, you create direction
• You think in systems, not tasks — and care about building scalable solutions
• Bonus: experience with LCA tools (One Click LCA, GaBi, ecoinvent) or LCA of buildings
