We are seeking an experience Packaging oriented Operations Manager for our manufacturing/industrial facility in a manager role that leads all packaging activity in a USDA regulated consumer goods facility in the area near Macon/Warner Robins, GA.
This Key Manufacting Operations role directs daily operations, equipment performance, labor use, and workflow across all shifts, working to ensure that packaging lines meet safety, food safety, regulatory, quality, and production standards while improving efficiency and output.
This Manager will lead all packaging lines and teams to meet production plans and customer needs, via the management, scheduling and direction of labor, changeovers, and material flow to keep lines running, all the while working to maintain performance standards for throughput, yield, scrap, quality issues, and downtime.
A key part of this role will be to ensure execution of SOPs, control points, and standard work via the tracking of key metrics including OEE, takt time, labor efficiency, and accuracy.
Other day to day focus-areas include:
- USDA and food safety compliance Ensure compliance with USDA FSIS rules, GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP.
- Confirm that materials, labels, and finished goods meet regulatory and traceability requirements.
- Support USDA inspections and corrective actions.
- Work with QA to maintain packaging quality, seal integrity, label accuracy, and product identity.
- Work with Maintenance to support uptime, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Lead efforts to reduce changeover time and increase availability.
- Support new equipment, upgrades, and automation.
- Ensure proper machine setup and operator readiness.
- Maintain SOPs, visual controls, training materials, and handling standards.
- Ensure ERP accuracy for yields, material movement, and batch reporting.
- Lead daily meetings, shift handoffs, and problem solving.
The ideally qualified candidate will bring with them the following:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, food science, or related field preferred.
- EXPERIENCE: Seeking at least 3-5, or more years of experience in consumer goods, CPG or food packaging; USDA experience strongly preferred.
- A strong demonstrated leadership work history, and background leading teams, projects and day to day operations in manufacturing or packaging, again, ideally in a consumer product manufacturing setting.
- Any previous work history and/or a strong knowledge of USDA, HACCP, GMP, and food safety requirements and regulations is HIGHLY DESIRED.
- We are seeking ideally a strong background/expertise in packaging operations, materials, and equipment, managing teams, interpreting performance data and KPIs, identifying opportunities for Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
- A strong technical proficiency with manufacturing systems including MRP/ERP or MES systems.
- This is a TEAM LEADER as well, thus we need a strong communicator, a good team motivator/mentor and someone with top notch team leadership tools and abilities.
