Planet Labs Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer, DevOps to join the Global Monitoring Service (GMS) App Team. This is a full-time remote position based in Germany, the Netherlands, or Slovenia, with expectation to work from office 3 days per week if located near one. Responsibilities include owning container-based application lifecycle, bi-weekly releases, and CI/CD pipelines; managing Kubernetes cluster deployments for stateful applications; ensuring high availability and SLA compliance through monitoring and 24/7 on-call rotation; debugging complex issues; managing authentication and terraform deployments; and collaborating across time zones. Required: 10+ years software engineering with DevOps focus, containers, and Kubernetes; Bachelor's in Computer Science or similar; hands-on Kubernetes, stateful applications, persistent storage experience; CI/CD pipeline optimization; secrets management and cloud-native security; on-call rotation participation; ability to monitor distributed systems with SLAs/SLOs; independence and ownership; secured customer environment deployment experience; willingness to travel quarterly. Preferred: Defense & Intelligence customer experience; SQL/noSQL operational knowledge; Google Cloud Platform and Grafana; Kubernetes CRDs; open source contributions; geospatial software community involvement; front-end development; Professional Services background.
