Clinical Director – Independent Practice – Guernsey

An exceptional leadership opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Veterinary Surgeon to take the clinical helm of a long-standing, independent two-site practice. Following the retirement of a local mainstay, the practice is entering a meaningful "evolution" phase. This isn't a role for someone seeking a polished corporate machine; it’s for a builder who wants to shape protocols, mentor a dedicated team, and restore high-level clinical systems in a community-focused environment.

About the Practice & Location

Situated on the beautiful island of Guernsey, this practice has been a cornerstone of the community for over 46 years. The location offers a safe, tranquil lifestyle where the "school run" can be done by bicycle and the beach is your post-work sanctuary. With a population of 65,000, you’ll enjoy a "village feel" with city-grade connections—London is just a 45-minute flight away.

About the Role and Team

This is a pivotal "hands-on" leadership position, balanced as approximately 60-70% clinical and 30-40% management.

• The Mission: Move beyond the status quo to rebuild clinical culture and systems.

• Clinical Scope: Full-service care including surgery, dentistry, and imaging. Most cases are managed in-house without the need for referral.

• The Rota: Shared 1-in-4 on-call with alternating weekends. Sundays are strictly for emergencies (1-hour availability), protecting your time to enjoy island life.

About You (To be considered) ✅

The practice is seeking a high-caliber clinician who prioritizes relationships over transactions.

• Experience: MRCVS with at least 8 years of experience. Confidence in both medicine and surgery is essential.

• Qualifications: A Certificate (or two) is highly desirable, but leadership character is the priority.

• Leadership Style: You possess the "backbone" to make tough clinical decisions and the kindness to mentor a team through change. You are patient, observant, and lead by example.

The financial incentives of this 3-year contract are significantly higher than equivalent UK roles:

• Salary: £120,000+ per annum.

• Tax Efficiency: Guernsey features a flat 20% income tax with no VAT, capital gains, or inheritance tax. Your take-home pay will be vastly superior to a UK equivalent.
