Job Summary
Overall Purpose:
The Job Holder will be responsible for managing and reviewing a range of UCITS funds and institutional mandates under the management of BOV Asset Management, identifying investment opportunities to maximise portfolio performance while ensuring alignment with the respective investment objectives, strategies, and policies. In addition, the Portfolio Manager will contribute to the formulation of the overall investment strategy and support the development, recommendation, and implementation of investment solutions that are aligned with the decisions of the Asset Management Committee and the established investment management framework of BOV Asset Management.
Key Responsibilities
The job holder will be responsible for:
Investment Mandates
▪ Managing UCITS funds and/or other institutional mandates managed by BOV Asset Management.
▪ Implementing the investment strategy in line with the respective mandate.
▪ Reporting and recommending to the BOVAM Investment Committee the portfolio activity, performance, strategy and investment decisions.
▪ Managing the inclusion of specific investment vehicles in the mandates being managed and deciding the potential asset classes on which the portfolio manager is expected to take an investment decision.
▪ Determining the tactical asset allocation of each respective mandate under one’s responsibility based on changes in macro-economic, leading economic indicators, asset class correlations, volatility triggers, interest rates and risk limits.
▪ Actively participating in the investment decision process on initial public offerings and third-party funds following meetings held with local issuers and international fund management houses.
▪ Providing an adequate investment rationale for all trades being recommended and responsibility for a robust first line of defense in terms of UCITS and/or the Investment Policy Statement for institutional mandates.
▪ Maximising mandate performance against the established benchmarks through adequate investment management decisions.
Communication & Networking
▪ Actively participating in company meetings, fund manager meetings and internal committees.
▪ Guiding investment analysts on the generation of investment ideas in line with the investment strategy of the respective mandate.
▪ Assisting and supporting in meetings and technical communication with the BOV AM’s distribution channels.
▪ Reporting to the BOV AM Investment Committee in relation to fund activity, investment performance and investment strategy.
▪ Meeting and keeping ongoing communication with the Management of local listed Companies, to get a better insight of the Company which enables to take better informed investment decisions.
Commitment to Service
▪ Being a key contributor for investment idea generation and ensuring that security buy/sell decisions, portfolio construction, portfolio monitoring and portfolio risk management are in line with the portfolio objectives, Research recommendations and Asset Management Committee decisions.
▪ Generating investment ideas intended to maximise returns within the established parameters.
▪ Monitoring market developments that might have an impact on the investment decision and amend actions accordingly.
▪ Maintaining tools intended to monitor fund/portfolio activity and performance contribution.
▪ Supporting management in the development of new funds, product features and the overall company strategy.
In addition to the specific functions, management may assign more duties as required for the job from time to time.

Required Criteria:
Previous proven work experience of five (5) years' in the banking or financial services industry, three (3) years’ of which with direct hands-on experience in the investments field, and a professional qualification in an investments related field, recognised and accepted by the MFSA to initiate the process of obtaining a Portfolio Management Licence.

Applicants are required to satisfy the Bank’s minimum eligibility criteria of four (4) O’Levels at Grade 5/C or higher, including English Language, in addition to any role‑specific requirements outlined above. This requirement shall not apply where applicants are already in possession of an MQF Level 6 Degree or higher.
