ME Medical Recruitment is currently seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established public mental health service in Western Australia. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Psychiatrists looking for a senior clinical leadership role with a strong focus on community and regional mental health care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and service development.

This role is suitable for substantive appointments and is open to internationally trained Psychiatrists eligible for specialist registration in Australia.

The Role

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide high-level clinical leadership, assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adult mental health patients across a regional mental health service. The position includes a mix of community-based care, inpatient consultation, outreach and telepsychiatry, and plays a key role in shaping service delivery.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including Psychiatry Registrars, RMOs, nursing staff, allied health professionals and Aboriginal health services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment
• Deliver clinical leadership and specialist advice across mental health services
• Participate in community, inpatient and telehealth service delivery
• Support and supervise Psychiatry Registrars and junior medical staff
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and service planning
• Contribute to safety, quality improvement and clinical governance activities
• Participate in ECT governance and statutory reporting (where applicable)
• Support culturally safe, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care

Essential Criteria

• Eligible for specialist registration with AHPRA (Medical Board of Australia)
• Fellowship with RANZCP or equivalent specialist qualification
  • (UK CCT, Irish, Canadian RCPSC, American Board, or comparable)
• Demonstrated experience working as a Consultant / Attending Psychiatrist
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

• Subspecialty interests, teaching or research experience
• Experience in regional, rural or community mental health settings
• Experience with telepsychiatry or outreach services
