About The Role
This is a key technical leadership role responsible for maximising the value of the coal resource through geological modelling, coal quality management, and reconciliation. The role owns coal quality performance from pit to ROM and plays a critical role in aligning geology, mine planning, and CHPP performance.
This is a site-based role working a 9-day fortnight at Maules Creek Mine. Temporary accommodation & relocation assistance is provided. DIDO options may be discussed.
What You’ll Do
Working within the Technical Services department, key duties will include:
Manage geological modelling, interpretation, and reconciliation to ensure accurate and reliable inputs to mine planning.
Develop and oversee mine drilling and exploration programs & ensure integrity of geological data and models
Provide direction to operations to achieve coal quality targets, minimise dilution, and maximise yield and recovery
Own coal quality performance from pit to ROM, driving yield optimisation and alignment with product specifications and CHPP performance
Mentor and develop junior team members, promoting capability uplift, cross-skilling, and continuous improvement across geological and coal quality functions.
Build strong relationships across Technical Services, Mining, and CHPP to support aligned operational outcomes
What You’ll Bring
Tertiary qualifications in Geology as well as relevant experience in open cut mine geology
Strong experience in coal quality management, reconciliation, and working closely with CHPP operations
Experience with Geological Modelling Software packages and database platforms
Proven ability to lead technical decision-making and drive operational outcomes
Strong computer literacy with well-developed data analysis and interpretation skills
