About the Program


The Jirnani Early Learning Centre will provide a high-quality early education and care service that brings together Tiwi and non-Tiwi childcare knowledge for children aged 0 to 5 in Wurrumiyanga and their families. The Centre will offer childcare and other activities that support parenting within the community.


The program will provide a beautiful, safe, play-based learning environment that supports children to grow up strong, healthy, happy, and connected to culture and family. Educators and children will use community languages and English at the Centre.


About the role


The Centre Coordinator is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Child Care Centre. The Centre Coordinator will ensure the delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate early childhood education and care services, driving educational excellence while adhering to national standards and regulations.


This position also plays a key role in policy development, innovation, and ensuring strong community engagement and impact. As a senior leader, the Centre Coordinator will mentor, guide, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and effective team environment.


What we are looking for



  • Diploma qualification in early childhood education or children’s services, or above

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to quickly build respectful relationships with children, families and staff from different backgrounds and cultures

  • Ability to plan and implement a play-based early learning program that meets all children’s developmental needs

  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices in a remote community context

  • Current First Aid qualification (desirable)
