Diesel Mechanic – Underground Mining Equipment

Role Overview

An international mining company is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain underground mining equipment at its operation in Tanzania. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of underground mining equipment, ensuring high availability and safe operation of critical machinery. (FIFO / Expat Assignment) – Fixed Term

Key Responsibilities


Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment, including:


Load–Haul–Dump (LHD) machines
Underground dump trucks
Underground drilling machines


Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems and drivetrains
Diagnose and repair 24V electrical systems and faults
Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance in line with OEM standards
Maintain accurate maintenance and fault-finding records
Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental standards
Work closely with operations to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability


Qualifications & Experience


Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic in underground mining
Proven experience working on LHDs, underground trucks and drilling equipment
Strong fault-finding skills on 24V electrical systems (mandatory)
Relevant mechanical trade qualification (advantageous)
Ability to work rotational shifts in a remote mining environment
