Boiler Operator – ANTARCTICA

We have a very COOL opportunity for an experienced Boiler Operator in Antarctica!

Hays Recruitment is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Boiler Operators for an assignment at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. This unique opportunity involves working in one of the most remote and challenging environments on Earth.
Location: McMurdo Station, Antarctica (approximately 1000 residents in summer season, 250 in Winter)
Rate: $50 per hour (WAGES/ PAYE)
Deployment dates: May until September 2026

You should have:

• New Zealand Certificate in Energy and Chemical Operations (Boiler Operation) (Level 3), OR Overseas Equivalent
• Proven experience maintaining and installing boilers
• Unrestricted New Zealand work rights (no visa variation or sponsorship provided)

What to expect when you’re down there:

• Accommodation provided (you will be in a shared room)
• Free food (the meals aren’t Michelin starred, but they’re still pretty good)
• Free flights from any major NZ airport
• Work schedule: Mon – Sat, 7am – 5pm

• Medical and dental checks
• Criminal background and security checks
• Vaccinations
