At Fraser Coast Regional Council our people are our most important asset and central to achieving our purpose of Building Better Communities Together.

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a motivated Technical Officer to support the delivery of Council’s water and wastewater infrastructure program. If you enjoy practical problem‑solving, working across projects, and contributing to safe and reliable network operations, this role offers variety, impact and professional growth — without needing an engineering degree.

What your day will look like:

  • Prepare project and technical work specifications, and support contract delivery to ensure works meet required safety, quality, cost and schedule outcomes.
  • Capture accurate project data and “as‑constructed” information to support asset management and future planning.
  • Identify constructability and design risks, providing practical recommendations to optimise project methodology and minimise delivery issues.
  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors and the community, offering clear technical advice and investigating customer requests.
  • Investigate operational or network performance issues, analysing data and preparing evidence‑based reports and recommendations.
  • Assist with Bills of Quantities, cost estimates and resource planning for project delivery.

What you’ll need for success:

  • Experience in the design, construction or maintenance of water supply and/or sewerage infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, with the ability to coordinate works and achieve required outcomes.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and compliance requirements for water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Well‑developed analytical, problem‑solving and reporting skills.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Current C or CA class driver licence, White Card, and Qld Water Aqua and Brown Cards.

What’s nice to have:

  • Engineering degree (AQF7+).
  • Trade qualifications in Water Industry Operations, Plumbing or Civil Construction.
  • RPEng or RPEQ accreditation (or ability to obtain).
  • Qld Water Grey and Green Cards.

We understand that not all candidates will meet every selection criterion. If you have the right approach and the ability to contribute effectively, we welcome your application.
