The Impact You’ll Make in this role
The Senior Leader & Head of Government Affairs for Solventum APAC will be responsible for leading the company's government affairs strategy for this region. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building and maintaining positive relationships with government officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders, driving advocacy efforts to shape public policy, and promoting the company's interests within the healthcare sector. This role requires a combination of leadership, strategic thinking, political acumen, and a deep understanding of APAC’s healthcare landscape.
As the Head of Government Affairs for APAC, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact as the lead government advocate for Solventum and helping shape key policy issues while leading a team of dedicated professionals and consultants.
- Implementing and Executing Government Affairs plans across relevant APAC jurisdictions, directed towards enhancing and protecting the company's results and reputation.
- Monitoring and advocating on key legislative issues, government positions, and decisions and pro-actively informing business leaders and advising internal decision-makers on risks, opportunities, and actions to be taken.
- Drafting policy papers, responses, comments, and other research for submissions to APAC government institutions and national government bodies related to public policy matters.
- Providing counsel, insight, and support to GA leadership and the Management on all government-related issues and activities, including ESG-related public policies.
- Working closely with GA and business leaders to identify government-related growth opportunities; raising Solventum profile and reputation with relevant stakeholders.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key external influencers and stakeholders in APAC institutions and in industry associations to achieve appropriate outcomes and meeting opportunities.
- Working together with Ethics and Compliance to achieve the highest level of ethical standards and FCPA compliance in all activities, especially in this high-risk public domain.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- More than 10 years of experience working in Government Affairs or Regulatory Affairs in the healthcare and medical device industry for APAC
- In-depth understanding of regulations with a strong focus on medical device regulation and health care legislation impacting medical devices
- Profound knowledge of APAC esp. China and Japanese healthcare systems including national reimbursement policies
- Proven track record of actively advocating for company interests within governments in APAC region
- Strong networker with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with key policy leaders and key opinion leaders
- Developed capabilities in monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting complex legislative files
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Understanding and preferably experience across APAC Markets.
- Healthcare experience
- Background and familiarity with United States federal government and past experience successfully working in a U.S. multinational corporation
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships both internally within an organization and externally with key stakeholders and groups.
- A global perspective and the ability to understand the implications of policy proposals on the global marketplace.
- Knowledge on healthcare bids and tender process, direct sales and indirect sales via distributors.
- Proficiency in additional languages
Work Location: Singapore
Travel: May include up to 50% including in APAC region and International
