Vacancy Information
Our client is looking for several experienced Lead and Senior Piping and Mechanical Engineers to join their Amsterdam team on a permanent basis. These are long-term positions within a dynamic engineering environment that offers a mix of on-site project involvement and time in a modern office setting.
As a Lead or Senior Engineer you will act as the right hand to the Discipline Manager, supervising and mentoring a team of approximately 10 engineers. You will have direct input into both conceptual and detailed designs and will represent the engineering discipline in client meetings, planning sessions, and technical reviews. The work contributes actively to emission reduction, energy efficiency, and industrial safety in line with the company's climate-neutral ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the engineering process from concept through to completion across a range of industrial projects.
- Managing scope, planning, and technical alignment with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Overseeing design deliverables, calculations, and drawing reviews to ensure technical quality and compliance.
- Coaching and mentoring junior engineers and actively contributing to the growth of the team.
- Conducting site visits and preparing cost estimates for design and implementation activities.
- Collaborating closely with other technical disciplines in a 3D engineering environment.
- Maintaining strong working relationships with clients and suppliers from project kickoff through to handover.
What You Need
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in piping and mechanical engineering within an industrial or engineering consultancy environment, with at least 5 years in a lead or senior role.
- Proven experience delivering piping and mechanical engineering on industrial projects in sectors such as oil and gas, chemicals, energy, or waste processing.
- Strong knowledge of 3D engineering environments and multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Solid understanding of relevant industry standards, design codes, and engineering best practices for piping and mechanical systems.
- Experience in conducting site visits, managing design reviews, and preparing cost estimates.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide a team of engineers effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a client-oriented mindset.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Afrikaans proficiency is a strong advantage for this role. A willingness to learn Dutch and integrate into a Dutch working environment is expected and will be an important part of settling into the team successfully.
