Title: Civil EngineerArea: Cape Town RegionIndustry: Steel & Iron Manufacturing (Production & Maintenance)Ref No.: TRG 2455sTEEStart Date: As soon as possibleType: PermanentSalary: TBD (Neg + Relocation Assistance + Accommodation Support + Medical Aid + Provident FundSpecial Instructions: Director: Management, Projects and Operations An opportunity exists for a highly experienced CIVIL ENGINEER for permanent employment within a large-scale steel and iron manufacturing operation based in the Cape Town Region.This role reports into Executive Management (Projects & Operations) and is responsible for all civil works across the plant, including strategic project execution, structural design oversight, site supervision, and capital infrastructure development with immediate focus on a major oxygen plant project and ongoing heavy industrial upgrades.This is not a general commercial construction role. We are seeking a candidate with proven exposure to integrated or mini-mill steel environments and high-capacity industrial operationsThis role is ideally suited to candidates with significant exposure to integrated or mini-mill steel operations, including experience within large heavy-industry environments such as ArcelorMittal, Scaw Metals, Highveld Steel, or similar high-capacity steelmaking plants (adv). DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Planning & Design Conduct site analysis and interpret survey data Develop project plans, structural designs, blueprints and technical specifications Ensure integration with mechanical, electrical and production requirementsFeasibility & Risk Assessment Evaluate technical and financial feasibility of civil works Assess environmental impacts and regulatory requirements Conduct structural and operational risk assessmentsProject & Site Management Oversee site labour and contractor performance Manage materials logistics and civil project sequencing Monitor timelines, budgets and quality benchmarks Coordinate across operations, engineering and maintenance teamsStructural Engineering Oversight Design and verify structures to withstand static and dynamic loads Ensure durability, plant safety compliance and heavy equipment support Validate foundations, steel structures and industrial load-bearing elementsCompliance & Governance Ensure adherence to building codes, environmental legislation and safety regulations<
