Solar Technician II

This is a fixed site field role focused on DC system health, module replacements, tracker repairs, Inverter maintenance-repairs, and other maintenance activities on utility-scale solar facilities. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our clients’ solar assets perform safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is located in City, State. RNWBL offers a relocation assistance package if interested in this position.
What You’ll Do:
- Reside or relocate within 1 hour of the project when possible.
- Inspect and troubleshoot DC systems, combiner boxes, and string performance (Must be able to use a meter and once trained operate other needed electrical test equipment)
- Perform module swaps and replacements in accordance with site standards
- Diagnose and repair tracker system components (gearboxes, actuators, drives, motors, etc.)
- Support both corrective and preventative maintenance across PV systems and BOS equipment
- Document work performed and maintain compliance with safety standards (OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E)
- Collaborate with peers, site leads, and clients to ensure project success
- Assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
- Support experienced technicians with troubleshooting tasks.
- Maintain safety training and Qualified Electrical Worker requirements as a technician
- Document all service activity and parts consumptions using digital reporting systems.
- Participate in safety briefings and enforce LOTO procedures.
- Communicate issues and solutions to leadership.
- Interface and communicate effectively with customers.
- Adheres to, supports, and enforces all company policies
- Work with Inventory Control to make sure projects are supplied properly with parts and consumables
- Able to participate and respond in an On-Call 24/7/365 rotation schedule
- Learn the fundamentals of mechanics, electricity, electronics, PLC’s, and hydraulics to solve mechanical and electrical problems
- Learn to interface with equipment PLC’s to program, analyze performance and troubleshoot problems
- Enjoy the challenges associated with troubleshooting, maintaining, and problem solving on renewable energy equipment
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years’ experience in utility-scale solar PV, related electrical/mechanical field, related degree, or industry certificate course.
- Knowledge of DC systems, PV modules, and tracker mechanisms
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and OEM manuals
- As needed for training and to assist on other projects if necessary.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred:
- OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, or equivalent safety certifications
- NABCEP Associate or NCCER certification
- Familiarity with inverter troubleshooting and SCADA/monitoring systems
