Working in Australia

Possible country route: Skills in Demand (subclass 482). The employer-sponsored Skills in Demand route has stream, nomination, occupation and applicant requirements. It replaced the earlier TSS route for new applications.

Processing differs by stream and application circumstances. Check the current Home Affairs processing-time tool; employer nomination adds its own steps.

What to check before applying
  1. Confirm the sponsor and stream. Ask which 482 stream and occupation the employer intends to nominate.
  2. Check current requirements. Review qualifications, English, salary and any skills assessment on Home Affairs.
  3. Coordinate nomination and application. Keep the employer nomination and applicant visa steps distinct.

Shape our story. Strengthen our reputation. Make an impact.

At Ramsay Health Care, communications play an important role in building trust, shaping perceptions and bringing our strategy to life.

We’re seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Manager to partner with senior leaders, shape compelling narratives and provide strategic advice that strengthens Ramsay’s reputation and supports our business priorities.

Reporting to the General Manager Communications, you’ll lead communications for allocated business areas, combining strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and hands-on delivery in a complex healthcare environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on communications opportunities, stakeholder engagement and reputation.
  • Shape compelling narratives that bring business priorities, expertise and impact to life.
  • Lead issues management by identifying emerging risks, advising on responses and supporting timely escalation.
  • Drive media engagement, including proactive story development, media enquiries and coverage monitoring.
  • Develop communications strategies and briefs that align audiences, messaging, channels and desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate across the national Communications team to ensure consistent messaging, coordinated activity and effective delivery.
  • Measure communications effectiveness and use insights to strengthen future activity.

Flexibility outside standard business hours is required when significant issues arise or media monitoring demands it.

About you

You’re a confident, strategic communicator who can navigate complexity, influence senior stakeholders and turn business priorities into clear, engaging communications.

You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience in strategic communications, corporate affairs, public relations or issues management.
  • Proven experience advising senior leaders and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent writing, storytelling and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience managing media activity, sensitive issues and reputational risks.
  • Strong judgement, collaboration skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, business or a related discipline.

Experience in healthcare or another complex, highly regulated organisation will be highly regarded.

Why join Ramsay?

Join a national Communications team where you can influence important conversations, work closely with senior leaders and help shape how one of Australia’s leading healthcare organisations is understood.

If you’re passionate about strategic communications, reputation and making a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.
