Description (EN)

Pilot Plant Project Co-ordinator

Location: Macclesfield, UK
Function: Chemical Development, PT&D

Make an impact through safe, efficient manufacturing

Are you a scientific or engineering professional who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and bringing different teams together?

As a Pilot Plant Project Co-ordinator, you’ll support the safe and compliant delivery of manufacturing and cleaning activities within our pilot plant.

Working closely with Campaign Managers/Technical Managers, Process Engineers and operational teams, you’ll co-ordinate plans, manage risks and identify opportunities to improve performance.

This is an opportunity to combine technical knowledge with practical project co-ordination in a highly collaborative clinical API manufacturing environment.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will:

  • Co-ordinate activities supporting COMAH critical task analysis across operations and engineering
  • Plan and organise critical task assessments, involve key stakeholders and manage associated documentation
  • Maintain operational metrics and process safety performance information
  • Align operational and engineering plans, keeping stakeholders informed of progress, risks and priorities
  • Work with Campaign Managers/Technical Managers to plan and deliver product changeover cleaning activities
  • Lead improvement activities aimed at reducing changeover times
  • Co-ordinate the ordering and management of materials required for cleaning and, where appropriate, manufacturing
  • Prepare relevant SHE and GMP documentation to allow execution of manufacturing and cleaning activities
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers on relevant engineering change controls
  • Lead or support investigations, problem-solving activities and deviation management
  • Share learning and encourage consistent working practices across the pilot plant

Essential experience and capabilities

You will need:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Technical or engineering capability gained in a relevant environment
  • A data-led approach to evaluating process performance and identifying improvement opportunities
  • The ability to organise priorities and co-ordinate activity across different teams
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to raise risks with key stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to safety, quality and compliance

A background in chemistry or chemical engineering would be particularly relevant, although we welcome applicants with equivalent experience from other scientific or engineering disciplines.

Desirable experience

It would be helpful if you also have:

  • Experience of structured problem-solving
  • Project or business process management experience
  • Practical experience within active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing
  • Knowledge or awareness of Good Manufacturing Practice and regulatory requirements

You do not need to meet every desirable criterion to apply. If your experience is relevant and you are motivated to develop your knowledge, we encourage you to consider the opportunity.

Why join us?

You’ll work across technical, operational and engineering teams, helping to improve how activities are planned and delivered. Your work will support safe and GMP compliant manufacturing within a dynamic pilot plant environment, supplying AZ’s exciting pipeline of medicines in development.

If you enjoy taking ownership, working through complex challenges and turning data into practical improvements to deliver products which change patients’ lives, we’d like to hear from you.
