Possible country route: Employer-specific work permit. A job offer is usually needed for an employer-specific permit. The employer may need an LMIA or an exemption. Express Entry permanent residence is a separate process.
IRCC times depend on the work-permit category and application country. Use the live processing-time tool; employer LMIA processing, if needed, is separate.
What to check before applying
- Confirm permit and employer steps. Ask whether an LMIA or exemption applies to the offer.
- Check the application country. Use IRCC requirements and the current processing-time tool.
- Apply for the correct permit. A job offer alone does not authorise work or entry.
Reviewed 2026-10-14. Country routes are context, not a confirmation that this vacancy or your passport qualifies.
Description (EN)
As a Senior SDE, you will own the design and delivery of distributed systems that serve internal customers across science, capacity management, and engineering. You will tackle hard problems in areas like large-scale data processing, workflow orchestration, infrastructure automation, and platform reliability. The systems you build will directly impact how Amazon prepares for its highest-traffic moments and how it operates efficiently every day in between.
This is a role for a builder who wants to operate at the intersection of infrastructure and data, someone who can translate ambiguous business problems into well-architected technical solutions, ship them into production, and raise the engineering bar for the team along the way.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design, implementation, and operation of distributed systems that serve Amazon-scale workloads.
- Lead technical strategy and architecture for your area, making tradeoffs between speed of delivery and long-term platform health.
- Build services that are generic, composable, and designed for reuse, reducing duplication and accelerating the pace of delivery across the organization.
- Drive operational excellence across your systems, including monitoring, alarming, incident response, and on-call ownership.
- Partner with scientists, data engineers, and capacity managers to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual toil and close automation gaps through better tooling, self-service interfaces, and data-driven guardrails.
- Influence engineering culture through design reviews, code reviews, technical mentorship, and contributions to team-wide best practices.
About the team
Scaling Efficiency builds the automation and data infrastructure that powers CloudTune's capacity decisions across Amazon. Our teams work at the intersection of infrastructure and data science, building platform services that enable accurate forecasting, automated scaling, and efficient capacity management for thousands of EC2-based services. We partner closely with scientists, capacity managers, and service owners across Amazon. We value ownership, operational excellence, and building systems that compound in value over time, so Amazon's engineers can focus on their customers instead of their infrastructure.
Basic qualifications

- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
