Un nouveau réseau intégré de 26 stations sur 67 km reliant le centre-ville de Montréal, la Rive-Sud, l’ouest de l’île de Montréal, la Rive Nord et l'aéroport Pierre-Elliot Trudeau qui sera en opération 20 heures par jour, 7 jours par semaine.
Le réseau express métropolitain (REM) représente la plus grande infrastructure intégrée en transport public depuis le métro de Montréal, inauguré en 1966 et aura un tracé équivalent au quatrième plus grand réseau de transport automatisé au monde ! Ajouté aux systèmes de transport public existants (métro, trains et autobus), il ouvre une nouvelle ère de développement pour le transport collectif dans la région métropolitaine. Ce nouveau réseau, entièrement électrique, proposera une solution de transport efficace et accessible pouvant contribuer à la diminution de près de 680 000 tonnes de GES sur 25 ans et donc à une économie sobre en carbone. Il pourrait également permettre de réduire les pertes économiques liées à la congestion routière, qui sont estimées à 1,9 milliard de dollars annuellement dans la région métropolitaine.
