Description (EN)

Do you want to work with the latest technologies and highly skilled colleagues, at a world leading company? Then you might be the one we are looking for to join us at Technologies, one of the departments within Axis R&D, with responsibility for developing Axis product platforms that are the base for all Axis Video Surveillance Products.

Who is your future team?

You will join "Common Core Platform", a team made up of three functional teams - FT DRAM, FT Platform Security and FT Kernel - that together own the foundation of the Axis Product Platform: boot, firmware and cyber security, the Linux kernel and drivers, and the memory sub-system. We value both personal development and close collaboration, and the teams work side by side when the very first chip samples arrive at Axis and need to be brought up.

The DRAM team is our newest functional team and Axis' centre of expertise for memory sub-systems. The team owns the initialization, tuning and validation of DRAM across our platforms - from configuration and characterization of memory controllers and memory interfaces on new hardware designs, to stability testing and debugging of memory-related issues in products already in the field. The team works closely with the Kernel and Platform Security teams during bring-up of new SoCs and hardware reference platforms, and interacts with ASIC designers, hardware engineers and external memory vendors. Today the team consists of two engineers, and you will be the third person to join - which means you will have a real say in how the team shapes its way of working going forward.

What will you do as an Embedded Software Engineer?

The position is hands-on and placed in our DRAM team, where you will be involved in e.g. the following activities:

  • Experimenting and developing new functionality to enhance our platform portfolio
  • Optimizing our embedded system performance
  • Complex bug hunting
  • Evaluation of memory sub-systems and hardware platforms (e.g. from a performance and stability perspective)
  • Specification and validation of Axis ASICs and HW reference platforms
  • Interacting with internal and external teams (e.g. customers, partners or suppliers)
  • Development of memory initialization code, boot loaders and related Linux kernel support
  • DRAM qualification work

Who are you?

You are an analytic and dedicated person with a strong personal drive, an eye for details, and an ability to work both unsupervised and as a part of a team. You enjoy working hands-on with writing code and debugging IoT devices. You possess foresight and can develop solutions that are resilient to future challenges.

What we expect from all candidates:

  • Master's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or similar
  • Experience from embedded C development close to hardware
  • Knowledge of Git, Gerrit, and Jenkins

Since the position is in our DRAM team, prior experience of, and interest in, working with initializing, tuning and validating memory sub-systems (memory controllers, memory bus, DRAM) is a strong merit.

Experience with boot processes or Linux kernel development is also a merit.

Examples of relevant skills within these domains:

  • Experience in programming for embedded Linux
  • Skills in Linux kernel and device driver frameworks
  • Upstream Linux kernel work
  • Linux device driver development
  • Boot and boot loaders
  • Tuning, validation and debugging of memory sub-systems

The position is office-based and you will be located in Axis HQ in Lund, Sweden.
