Working in Canada
Possible country route: Employer-specific work permit. A job offer is usually needed for an employer-specific permit. The employer may need an LMIA or an exemption. Express Entry permanent residence is a separate process.
IRCC times depend on the work-permit category and application country. Use the live processing-time tool; employer LMIA processing, if needed, is separate.
What to check before applying
- Confirm permit and employer steps. Ask whether an LMIA or exemption applies to the offer.
- Check the application country. Use IRCC requirements and the current processing-time tool.
- Apply for the correct permit. A job offer alone does not authorise work or entry.
Reviewed 2026-10-14. Country routes are context, not a confirmation that this vacancy or your passport qualifies.

Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
As a platform company powering businesses around the world, Stripe processes payments, runs marketplaces, detects fraud, helps entrepreneurs start internet businesses from anywhere, builds world-class, developer-friendly APIs, and more. Stripe’s engineering teams build the business logic that powers all of this. As a software engineering manager at Stripe, you’ll lead teams that build and expand APIs, services, and experiences. You’ll also work with partners to launch new markets and vertical capabilities.
Stripe Terminal helps our users extend their online presence into the physical world. The Terminal team’s mission is to make accepting in-person payments as easy as the Stripe API has made accepting online payments—enabling unified commerce. With Terminal, businesses can unify their in-person and online experiences, unlocking payment use cases that fit their business models—whether they’re creating a modern retail experience, extending a website to a pop-up store, or enabling mobile point-of-sale payments at an event.
Within Terminal, the Enterprise team enables our largest and most influential merchants to scale their businesses globally through:
- Enterprise features, including in-person refunds, loyalty, and DCC
- Enterprise-focused point-of-sale integrations
- Vertical-specific payment methods, including SNAP EBT, Link integrations, merchant-specific QR payments, private-label credit cards and gift cards, and fleet fuel cards
What you’ll do
As an Engineering Manager on the Terminal Enterprise Features team, you’ll launch and scale merchant-specific features, build shared tooling for Terminal’s largest merchants, and partner with cross-functional teams across Stripe, including Go-to-Market, Legal, Design, and Product.
You’ll:
- Partner with Stripe leaders across the company to create and advance the vision for Stripe’s unified commerce offering, bringing in-person and online payments together
- Set the roadmap and priorities for your team and coordinate dependencies across the company
- Support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability
- Develop processes that help the team do its best work and collaborate effectively with the rest of Stripe
- Recruit excellent engineers in partnership with Stripe’s Recruiting team and develop engineers on the team, helping them advance in their careers
- Develop a deep understanding of core Stripe APIs and influence their design to work effectively with card-present payments while building a platform for unified commerce
- Empower and guide your team to build and scale integrations and core abstractions across payment methods, gift cards, and point-of-sale connectors for large enterprises
- Deliver essential enterprise features such as DCC and in-person refunds
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership across mobile, API, and backend development teams, with demonstrated broad technical leadership
- Experience building diverse teams to tackle challenging technical problems
- An understanding of AI’s impact and a strong product mindset, with the ability to turn emerging capabilities into clear customer and business value
- Experience thriving in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject-matter experts
- Experience building and managing scalable, resilient, and observable systems across the stack
- The ability to listen well, internalize the best ideas from across the organization, and set a vision that others are excited to support
- The ability to put yourself in the shoes of Stripe’s merchants and users
- Experience leading large technical projects with internal and external dependencies and impact across multiple teams
Preferred qualifications
- Industry experience building, or managing teams that have built, in-person checkout experiences or payment-method integrations
- Experience with in-person payment hardware and software, such as card readers and firmware
- A deep understanding of the payments industry
