Working in Australia
Possible country route: Skills in Demand (subclass 482). The employer-sponsored Skills in Demand route has stream, nomination, occupation and applicant requirements. It replaced the earlier TSS route for new applications.
Processing differs by stream and application circumstances. Check the current Home Affairs processing-time tool; employer nomination adds its own steps.
What to check before applying
- Confirm the sponsor and stream. Ask which 482 stream and occupation the employer intends to nominate.
- Check current requirements. Review qualifications, English, salary and any skills assessment on Home Affairs.
- Coordinate nomination and application. Keep the employer nomination and applicant visa steps distinct.
Reviewed 2026-10-14. Country routes are context, not a confirmation that this vacancy or your passport qualifies.

About the Role
We have exciting opportunities available for registered nurses to join Monash Children’s at Home based in Clayton at the Monash Children’s Hospital. This is a Part-time, ongoing opportunity.
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will work largely independently, providing a safe, effective alternative model of care for Newborn/Paediatric patients needing ongoing nursing management at home. In this way, patients spend less time in the acute setting, and we concurrently uphold our commitment to patient centred care.
Working closely with patients’ families, hospital based medical, nursing and allied health staff and community agencies, you will ensure that patients enjoy a safe transition from the acute hospital setting to the home environment. Your specific responsibilities in this role will include:
- Planning, evaluating and maintaining a high standard of safe and effective care for children
- Conducting comprehensive health assessments and educating those involved in care planning, direct care and discharge planning in the ambulatory setting
- Ensuring timely discharge planning to facilitate patients’ safe and effective transition from hospital to home
- Demonstrating your commitment to developing, promoting and progressing continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Role modelling excellence in safe nursing practice consistent with our expectations of leaders across Monash Health
About You
To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate that you satisfy the following mandatory criteria:
- Current AHPRA registration
- Current Acute Paediatric or Neonatal Nursing experience
- Demonstrated accountability for providing high quality nursing care
- Proven ability to apply excellent clinical and critical thinking skills while working independently but within a Team framework
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and documentation skills
- Current Driver’s Licence
- High standard Computer skills
