About the employer

WSPPosted on the employer’s careers page · emit.fa.ca3.oraclecloud.comLMIA employer (CA) — employer-level; what this means

Working in Canada

Possible country route: Employer-specific work permit. A job offer is usually needed for an employer-specific permit. The employer may need an LMIA or an exemption. Express Entry permanent residence is a separate process.

IRCC times depend on the work-permit category and application country. Use the live processing-time tool; employer LMIA processing, if needed, is separate.

What to check before applying
  1. Confirm permit and employer steps. Ask whether an LMIA or exemption applies to the offer.
  2. Check the application country. Use IRCC requirements and the current processing-time tool.
  3. Apply for the correct permit. A job offer alone does not authorise work or entry.

Lead the delivery of secure, high-complexity infrastructure that supports Canada's defence and public-sector operations. As Senior Project Director, Defence Infrastructure, you will provide strategic project leadership across a national portfolio spanning military bases, shipyards, armouries, aircraft hangars, maintenance and storage facilities, training and recreational assets, industrial and logistics facilities, fire halls, and police stations.

Working across land, air, and naval environments, you will guide multidisciplinary teams, strengthen client relationships, and help grow WSP's national Defence and Federal Buildings practice while delivering large-scale projects with lasting public value.

Your Impact

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of defence and federal infrastructure projects from planning and procurement through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

  • Establish project governance through execution plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, quality controls, and risk management strategies.

  • Direct multidisciplinary teams across architecture, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, security, project controls, and specialty consulting disciplines.

  • Serve as the primary client interface and point of accountability for scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and delivery outcomes.

  • Coordinate with Defence Construction Canada, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to advance complex, controlled-access projects.

  • Deliver projects through Design-Build, Design-Build-Finance, Construction Management, Alliance, P3, and traditional Design-Bid-Build models.

  • Grow trusted client relationships, contribute to account and pursuit strategies, and support repeat business in the defence and federal sectors.

  • Mentor project managers, project controls professionals, engineers, and junior staff while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 12 years of progressive project delivery experience, including at least 5 years delivering defence and/or federal infrastructure projects.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects for Defence Construction Canada or comparable federal agencies, preference for experience with maritime/shipyard projects

  • Proven track record managing complex capital projects valued at $25 million or greater.

  • Experience with alternative delivery models, including Design-Build, P3, Construction Management, or Alliance contracts.

  • Strong knowledge of federal procurement, governance frameworks, contract administration, security requirements, regulatory compliance, and project financial performance.

  • Professional designation such as P.Eng., PMP, OAA, RAIC, or equivalent is considered an asset; bilingualism in English and French is also considered an asset.
