About the employer

AdyenPosted on the employer’s careers page · job-boards.greenhouse.ioRecognised sponsor (NL) — employer-level; what this means

Working in Netherlands

Possible country route: Highly Skilled Migrant / EU Blue Card. The highly skilled migrant route normally requires an IND recognised employer and the applicable salary requirement. A residence card in another EU state does not automatically grant Dutch work permission.

IND decision period: up to 90 days, with shorter procedures in some cases. Employer preparation and legalisation take additional time.

What to check before applying
  1. Verify the sponsor. Check the IND recognised-sponsor register and confirm who submits the application.
  2. Confirm the salary category. Ask the employer which current income requirement applies.
  3. Prepare entry and residence documents. The need for an MVV depends on nationality and circumstances; check IND.

Description (EN)

Location: Amsterdam

This is Adyen

Adyen is the financial technology platform of choice for leading companies. By providing end-to-end payments capabilities, data-driven insights, and financial products in a single global solution, Adyen helps businesses achieve their ambitions faster. With offices around the world, Adyen works with the likes of Facebook, Uber, H&M, eBay, and Microsoft. To maintain our momentum, we need people to join us in finding new ways of solving our unique challenges.

AML Compliance Officer Financial Products

A key part of building our business is ensuring we do it ethically, securely, and sustainably. In order to do so, Adyen needs to understand and monitor at all times what happens on our platform and whether this is in line with regulations and our risk appetite. And that in a scalable, automated, and adaptive way.

To achieve this, we are looking for a Financial Products AML Compliance Expert to join our AML/CFT Compliance Department based in Amsterdam, covering our global business. In this role, you act as the Second Line expert responsible for designing, maturing, and scaling our Financial Economic Crime (FEC) control frameworks specifically tailored for Adyen’s Financial Product Offering (e.g., Banking-as-a-Service, Embedded Card Issuing, or B2B Payouts).

As Adyen continuously innovates and expands its product suite, staying ahead of how new financial products and features could be misused by illicit actors is critical. Sitting in the Second Line of Defense, you will bridge the gap between complex product architecture, global AML regulatory expectations, and industry best practices. You will bring a macro-level framework vision, step back from operational detail, and strategically guide cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.

Are you a financial products specialist who thrives in complex product environments and excels at influencing senior stakeholders? Then this is the role for you!

What you'll do:

  • Financial Products AML Frameworks: Co-design, roll out, and oversee the Second Line AML control framework across Adyen's Financial Products (e.g., Banking-as-a-Service, Embedded Card Issuing, and Global Payouts).
  • New Product Review: Provide expert AML input and challenge on new product propositions, bespoke use cases, and feature permissions, establishing clear compliance conditions prior to commercial launch.
  • Control Implementation Oversight: Partner with relevant teams (e.g., Product, Operations) to translate complex AML requirements into automated, product-embedded workflows and clear 1st-line operational guidelines.
  • Service Risk: Drive the continuous evaluation of financial crime risks linked to the service-risk framework, standardizing methodologies that combine industry sector, product type, payment rails, and business rationale to set usage boundaries and limits.
  • Control Design Assurance: Review and validate that financial product controls are properly designed to mitigate risk prior to launch, collaborating with Quality Assurance and other oversight functions to ensure controls function as intended in daily operations.
  • Regulatory & Stakeholder Representation: Where needed, represent our financial product AML control framework during regulatory examinations, internal audits, and banking partner reviews.

Who you are:

  • AML Framework: You bring 4+ years of hands-on experience in financial crime compliance, framework design, or compliance architecture within a scale-up fintech, BaaS provider, or tech-forward bank.
  • Financial Product Knowledge: Practical experience with the compliance dynamics and risk profiles of financial products (e.g., Embedded Business Accounts/IBANs).
  • Service Risk Expertise: Strong background in evaluating service-level and product-usage risks, translating industry nuances, transaction context, and customer use cases into proportionate risk controls.
  • Strategic Communicator: You excel at stepping back from granular operational detail to see the broader framework picture, confidently navigating senior stakeholder discussions and translating complex product setups into defensible risk narratives.
  • Collaborative & Pragmatic: You view compliance as an enabler of sustainable growth, partnering effectively with Product and Tech teams to build automated, user-friendly controls.
  • Clear Communication: Fluent in spoken and written English.
