🇳🇱 Working in Netherlands

Possible country route: Highly Skilled Migrant / EU Blue Card. The highly skilled migrant route normally requires an IND recognised employer and the applicable salary requirement. A residence card in another EU state does not automatically grant Dutch work permission.

What to check before applying
  1. Verify the sponsor. Check the IND recognised-sponsor register and confirm who submits the application.
  2. Confirm the salary category. Ask the employer which current income requirement applies.

PLEASE ATTACH A MOTIVATION LETTER TO YOUR CV WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION.

The role

We are growing and looking for a Data Scientist who enjoys building and improving things from end to end. You will take ownership of development projects and data analysis, help shape new capabilities, and work in a small team where your contribution makes a visible difference.

We are looking for someone who communicates clearly, actively works with colleagues and takes initiative. You should feel comfortable bringing ideas forward, asking questions, sharing progress and helping others solve problems.

The data we work with is unusually varied: signals and sound, images and video, free text, and molecular data spanning genetics, epigenetics, the microbiome, proteomics and metabolomics. Each brings different challenges, and part of your role will be choosing methods that fit the problem. Clear visualisation and explanation of results are central to the work.

What you will do

  • Work closely with colleagues to turn scientific and customer needs into practical solutions
  • Build and improve data pipelines and analytics workflows
  • Automate processing steps and improve their performance and reliability
  • Develop backend services and REST APIs, integrating data from different systems
  • Work with databases and contribute to internal and client-facing web applications
  • Develop and evaluate machine learning models across varied data types
  • Visualise results and explain findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proactively identify improvements, propose solutions and follow through on delivery

What we offer

  • Competitive salary matched to your experience and qualifications
  • Real ownership and opportunities to learn in a growing biomedical AI company
  • Diverse projects where your work goes into production and creates practical value
  • Room to grow through coaching and training
  • Assistance with residence permits and visas
  • A friendly, collaborative team that values ideas and initiative

Requirements

We care about your ability, curiosity and how you work with others. Talented bachelor’s graduates, master’s graduates and PhDs are all welcome. We match the responsibilities and salary to what you bring.

Must have

  • Excellent communication skills: you explain ideas clearly, listen carefully and keep colleagues informed about progress, challenges and next steps
  • Strong teamwork: you collaborate proactively, share knowledge and support colleagues in achieving shared goals
  • Initiative and ownership: you spot what needs doing, propose practical solutions and follow through without waiting for detailed instructions
  • Strong interest in biology and/or healthcare
  • Experience with Python and backend development, such as Django and REST APIs
  • Experience with AI and machine learning tools, such as PyTorch or scikit-learn
  • A degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, AI or a related field

Big plus but not required

  • Deep learning experience with sound, images or video
  • Bioinformatics or omics data analysis experience
  • Experience deploying models or data pipelines into production

Who you are

You enjoy solving problems, building useful tools and delivering high-quality work. You can work independently while staying closely connected to the team. You are open to feedback, willing to ask for help early and keen to contribute beyond your own individual tasks.

  • Employment type: Full-time, on-site.

Never pay a recruiter for a job offer or a visa promise. Check the original posting and employer identity before sharing documents. Pay any legitimate government visa fees only through official channels.
